Sol - Gel Materials

UP

Technology

The sol-gel technology emerged within the last three decades and quickly became one of the most important and promising new material fabrication methods. This technology enables us to design and fabricate a wide variety of different materials with unique chemical and physical properties. Our sol-gel materials are based on silica, alumina, titania and other compounds.

Our products

Using the sol-gel methods in our laboratory, we have obtained silica, titania, zirconia and other materials as well as doped materials. We are able to control the modification of matrices with various active substances e.g. inorganic or organic groups and bio-molecules.

The following technologies are currently under development:

- fabrication of porous monolithic, thin film and powder materials,

- fabrication of powders doped with nano-metallic particles,

- fabrication of optical sensor materials of various physical and chemical parameters,

- fabrication of pure and doped submicron spherical particles,

- fabrication of inorganic-organic materials hybrids,

- fabrication of biocoatings with pre-set, relevant properties.
